I wouldn't exactly say that Michigan shut down MSU's run game, they ended up with 191 rush yards compared to Michigan's 100. What really hurt MSU was that our secondary is awful at best. We can't defend the deep ball for the life of us. If Llyod Carr wasn't so conservative, they could have passed all day and destroyed MSU, because their run game wasn't a huge factor. And yes, penalties also didn't help at all. I’m still bitter over that loss for MSU.
