Rex Grossman

What in the world is going on? Rex Grossman is supposedly a leader on the Bears team. But then he drops this nugget on us:

In this league at this position, you have to bring it every single week no matter what (and) in the situation (against the Packers) it felt like I was going to play about a half, it’s the last game, New Year’s Eve, and there were so many factors that brought my focus away from what is actually important

How can he say that? How do you lose focus as a starting NFL quarterback? When you are getting paid millions of dollars a year to take a week off? And perhaps something that’s even more frightening. How does your coach let you lose focus. I know that Rex Grossman is a grown man, and other people cannot be held responsible for his actions. The coaches have to had known that he was coasting. He should have been benched, and Brian Griese (who was equally as bad) should have gotten the start. At least you can chalk up Griese’s poor performance to being rusty.

What next for Grossman and the Bears? Hopefully Rex has learned his lesson. If you don’t retain focus and prepare for every part of every game, you will be embarrassed on national television. My confidence level is very low at this point. Here’s hoping Grossman can learn something (his University of Florida “education” notwithstanding).

Yeah why in the hell can you not focus for the few hours on Sunday that are important? How does getting paid multi-millions not help you keep that focus? That really sucks. The end of the regular season is when you should be most focused in getting ready for the playoffs. Am I the only one that thinks that the Bears making it to the big game will depend on Rex?
