Kendall, I call Shenanigans! Everyone get your pitchforks and brooms!
More points should be given for the near picks in the first round. Points should be given for picking a team that almost upsets it's first round opponent. People shouldn't be penalized for being stupid enough to have Pacific make the sweet 16. If an underdog takes a team to double ot, then that's almost as good as a win...give that pick .75 points instead of none. Heck, it's harder to pick all 32 first round games than pick 4 teams to get to the final four. Think about it. If you want LSU, UCLA, FLA and GMason as your final four all you need to do is pick those four teams to win 4 times...it doesn't matter who they beat as long as they make the final four...what a crock! Every upset should be worth 10 pts if right, 7.5 if they almost one, and 5 pts even if they were blown out....or better yet, they points you get correlate to the seed of the team. That way your nefarious tactics of sliding in to the championship won't be able to help!

Mike Bourke is a math teacher and basketball coach, and hence should know better. Ignore everything he just wrote because the only time he won anything in the bracket pool is when he won his money back for coming in dead last.
